Calculate how much waterproofing membrane product you need from area, number of coats and application rate.
Enter area and product details to calculate membrane quantities.
Check TDS for actual product consumption rate. Always apply per manufacturer instructions and NZS 4858 / AS 3740 for wet areas.
NZS 4858 and AS 3740 typically require a minimum of two coats of liquid membrane for wet areas. High-exposure areas such as balconies, commercial kitchen floors and below-slab applications may require three coats or a thicker single-coat system per the manufacturer TDS.
Consumption rates vary significantly by product. Thin-film membranes typically consume 0.3–0.5 L/m²/coat. Standard acrylic or polyurethane membranes use 0.6–1.0 L/m²/coat. Heavy-duty tanking systems may require 1.0–1.5 L/m²/coat. Always check the manufacturer's Technical Data Sheet for the specific product.
Cure time varies by product, temperature and humidity. Most acrylic membranes cure enough for tiling in 4–6 hours per coat at 20°C. Polyurethane membranes typically take 12–24 hours per coat. Cold conditions significantly extend cure times. Always follow the manufacturer's minimum cure schedule before applying adhesive.
